Hello, I’m Kristyl, the heart and soul behind Kristyl Beauty and Kristyl Skincare.

My love for skincare began around 2004, studying and working part-time in Canada at a medical clinic where I first glimpsed the world of high-quality skincare. Around 2005, I stumbled upon the practices of Korean skincare. Their gentle, nurturing approach was fascinating... and different to the ways I had learnt about skincare products. It included botanical ingredients, antioxidants, and hydration, all focussing on protecting the skin barrier BEFORE damage set in. It felt like a love letter to skin, so different from the harsh, fix-it-later methods I’d been taught. As a Bajan girl born and raised in Barbados, this resonated deeply with me.

Growing up under the Caribbean sun, I saw how it left its mark on my parents and grandparents—skin cancers and pre-cancerous spots were a constant worry. As a teen, having a tan was what made me a true “island girl.” But at 21, I had an epiphany: I didn’t want to keep chasing the sun’s glow at the cost of my skin’s health. Every mature person I spoke to about skin damage and skin cancer all said the same thing, “I wish I didn’t spend all that time tanning, it’s not worth it in the end just to have a tan for a few days”. 
I vowed to wear the correct type of sunscreen daily and since, never looked back. That choice, fueled by love for my skin and inspired by my bajan elders’ struggles, set me on a path to create something meaningful. With my grandmother’s encouragement and belief in my dream, I opened my first salon in 2009, where I started out offering only Diamond Exfoliating facials with high quality skincare products.

In 2016, after nearly 2 years of rigorous research, product testing, and a ton of tears, I proudly launched my own line of products, Kristyl Skincare, focusing on exactly what every Caribbean person craves; breathable moisturizers, quality serums, sulfate free cleansers and most of all, for all oily skin types and large pores, my balancing toner. About a year later, I then added my broad spectrum sunscreen. 

My dream is to help you fall in love with your skin, whether you’re 25 or beyond, seeking a gentler, holistic way to glow. Kristyl Beauty is my way of inviting you into a world of care, protection, and radiance.
